SAMUEL "SAMMY" GALLAY
JERSEYVILLE - Samuel David "Sammy" Gallay, 63, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born on April 26, 1956 in Alton and grew up in Rosewood Heights, graduating with the class of 1974 from Roxana High School.
Sammy worked for the family business, Wood River Used Auto Parts in Cottage Hills, starting at a young age, eventually becoming a co-owner in the business prior to his retirement.
Sammy enjoyed reading, and when asked, enjoyed discussions on numerous historical events and topics. He was also a motor enthusiast, especially when it came to airplanes, motorcycles and cars. Above all, he had a heart of gold and a love for his family that knew no bounds. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew his for his giving nature and his loving heart.
Surviving are a sister, Rochelle Gallay of Alton; a brother and sister in-law, Eric and Carmen Gallay of Jerseyville; as well as a niece, Maci Gallay of Jerseyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Alberta (Heidemann) Gallay and the love of his life, Lori Tumbleson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2019 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Burial will take place alongside his parents at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
