Rodney Williams Jr Obituary

RODNEY WILLIAMS JR

ALTON – Rodney Lee Williams Jr., 28, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born on February 3, 1990 in Alton to Rodney Lee Williams Sr. and Laura (O’Dell) Goodwin.

Rodney grew up in the Alton/Jerseyville area and attended Jersey Community High School and later obtained his Graduate Equivalence Degree.

From an early age it was evident that Rodney was a natural born athlete, and he excelled in many sports, most especially basketball and baseball.

Rodney was a free spirit, and lived life his own way and on his own terms. He worked for a period of time as a carpenter by trade and enjoyed spending time outdoors and was always on the go, never one to slow down or sit still for very long.

Through it all, the one thing that never wavered was the love and loyalty he had for his family and his friends.  He was a devoted and loving father to his four daughters and enjoyed spending time with them, playing hide and seek and tossing them on the bed and watching them laugh and bounce around. He was loved my many, and without a doubt, left his mark on everyone he knew.

Surviving are his mother and step-father, Laura and Charles Goodwin of Jerseyville; his father, Rodney Williams Sr., and his fiancé Sonja Perez of South Roxana;  four daughters, who he adored, KayDence, Alexis, Alyse and Alayna; a brother and sister, Levy O’Dell and Hailey Goodwin, both of Jerseyville; aunts and uncles, Frank & Misty O’Dell of East Alton; Margaret “Polly” O’Dell of Alton; Tillie Wright of Wood River; Joyce O’Dell of Alton; Bell and Bobby Barnes and Nellie O’Dell, all of Van Buren, MO; Cynthia and Charles Smith of Oxford, MS; Thomas Clyde Williams Jr. of Alton; Rebecca Williams, and her fiancé Frederick McGee of Alton; numerous cousins and extended family members; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loretta Brooks, Ed O’Dell, Sandra Kay Williams and John Sims; as well as his cousin, Thomas Clyde Williams III.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
