ROBERT STEVENS
JERSEYVILLE - Robert Henry Stevens, 32, died unexpectedly at 4:34 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his residence.
He was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton on January 3, 1987, and was the only child of Timothy Robert and Sally Diane (Young) Stevens.
Bob graduated in 2005 from Jersey Community High School, and served with the United States Marine Corp.
He worked in the oil and gas industry alongside his Uncle Mike in the Appalachian region, and was regarded as a consistently hard worker, good mentor and an all around good guy.
He was passionate in the sport of Moto Cross, and was a member of the American Motorcycle Association District 18. Through the years he became a very accomplished, talented and respected member of the sport and garnered numerous championships.
Surviving are his mother, Sally Stevens of Jerseyville; his father, Tim Stevens of Kane; numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Portier and Betty (Wendle) Stevens, Richard W. Young Sr., and Thomasine (Powell) Young.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services and stories will be shared at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will take place in the Kane Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted.
In honor of Robert's service to our country, memorials may be given to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
