NORMA KOVACH
JERSEYVILLE - Norma Jane Kovach, 91, died at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Godfrey, Illinois on November 28, 1927, and was the daughter of Leo J. and Altivene Irene (Waters) Mans.
Norma graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in Alton and in her early years was employed at Newberry's Department Store in downtown Alton, and later at Bert's Hardware in Jerseyville, and Pine's Tavern in Delhi.
She was of the Catholic faith, with family being the center of her attention, with a good Bingo game coming in a distant second.
She married Alex Kovach on Sept. 1, 1956 at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, and their married life spanned 43 years before his death on Nov. 19, 1999.
She is survived by a son and daughter in-law, William and Beth Kovach of Brighton; a son in-law, Charles Wisnasky of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two brothers and sisters in-law, Joseph and Reyene Mans and Allen and Melody Mans all of Godfrey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie (Kovach) Wisnasky on July 26, 2016; an infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Wisnasky; a step granddaughter, Courtney Coates; and three sisters, Mary Krotz, Kathleen Schetter and Bernita Bechtold.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m., Tuesday until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with Father Steven Pohlman officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to her family in care of the funeral home.
