NICKI (AKERS) SUMMERS

GODFREY – Nicki Louann (Akers) Summers, 64, died peacefully at 4:41 a.m., Friday, November 9, 2018 at her home in Godfrey.

She was born in Jerseyville on September 2, 1954, one of five children born to the late Nicholas Henry and Frances Pauline (Cox) Akers and graduated with the class of 1972 from Jersey Community High School.

She went on to further her education at Chamberlain College where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and spent the past 20 years working as a nurse in the Transitional Care Unit at Alton Memorial Hospital.

She married Paul Richard Summers on March 22, 2002 in Edwardsville and although far too brief, they were blessed with 10 years of marriage before his death on July 11, 2013.

Surviving are two sisters, Karen Akers of Labadie, MO and Sharon Ohley of Jerseyville; two brothers and a sister in-law, Mark and Tina Akers of Lexington, SC and Rev. Robert Akers of Lehigh Acres, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Frances Akers and her husband, Paul Summers.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Kim Bell will officiate.

Burial will take place at the Kane Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to Blessings for Paytin.
