JERSEYVILLE - Maxine J. "Mickie" Prill, 91, died at 12:20 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2018 atJerseyville Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville.
She was born in Jerseyville on October 31, 1927, one of four children born to John and Marie (Feyerabend)Wock.
Mickie not only grew up on the family farm, but she also was very active in its operation in her younger years. She graduated in 1945 from Jersey Township High School and taught for one year at the Black Jack rural Jersey County school.
She then began a lifetime of employment as a secretary for Mundy Lumber Company, retiring in 1990. After her retirement, she assumed the same responsibilities, serving as the parish secretary for St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville.
Mickie was meticulous and precise in every way imaginable, from her appearance, (which always included her pearls and purse) ,her home, and her dedication to her work. She engaged herself socially, and participated on numerous bowling leagues and could often be found playing a round of golf at WestlakeCountry Club in Jerseyville.
She was devout Catholic, and possessed a deep sense of dedication to her church and its parishoners. She was the first recipient from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church to received the Woman of Distinction honor from the Springfield Diocese, and attended Mass daily.
She married Russell H. Prill in August of 1950 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and together they shared 61 years of marriage prior to his death on July 8, 2012.
Although she and Russell never had children of their own, she was very involved with their nieces and nephews. She is survived by her bother and sister in-law, Jack and Barbara Wock of Jerseyville; a brother in-law and his wife, John "Jack" and Evelyn Fessler of Godfrey; and a sister in-law, Dorothy Sauerwein ofJerseyville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Helen Conrad and Lois Fessler, a nephew, David Wock; and a great niece, Grechen Wock.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville. Father Patrick Gibbons will officiate.
She will be laid to rest in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville or to Masses.
