LARRY BOLLINGER
JERSEYVILLE - Larry Allen Bollinger, 79, died at 12:20 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2019 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.
He was born in Walsh, Illinois in Randolph County, Illinois on Jan. 10, 1940, and was the son of Henry Lewis and Ina Edith (Harmon) Bollinger.
He graduated from Sparta High School in Sparta, Illinois, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He spent the vast majority of his adult working career with Union Electric Company in Alton (now AmerenIllinois) where he was employed as a Gas Mechanic Leader until his retirement.
He married the former Nancy Skeens on July 1, 1961 in Grafton, and together they were the parents of two children, Randy and Wendy. He later married June Margaret (Skeens) Woolsey on April 2, 1988 in Knox City, Mo., and together they shared nearly 22 years before her death on Jan. 13, 2010.
Surviving are a son and daughter in-law, Randall and Barb Bollinger of Grafton; a daughter and son in-law, Wendy and Jeff Phipps of Jerseyville; step children, Greg and Dorothy Woolsey of Jerseyville, and Melody, and her husband, John Shelton of Fieldon; five grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Bryanna Bollinger of Godfrey, Kyle Bollinger of Grafton, Alexis and Garrett Tepen of Godfrey, Lauren and Ryan Brunaugh and Kellie and Drew Retzer all of Jerseyville; three great grandchildren, Peyton, Kennedy, Arianna and one due to arrive in June; two brothers and a sister in-law, Glenn Bollinger of Ellis Grove, and Delbert and Mildred Bollinger of Waukegan; a sister in-law and brother in-law, Nancy and Alan Hauff of Grafton, and a sister in-law, Sharon Skeens of Appleton, Wi.; as well as a brother in-law, Paul Smith of Jerseyville.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death a brother, Clyde Bollinger; and infant twin brother and sister, Lola Mae Bollinger and Dickie Ray Bollinger; a sister in-law, Joan Smith; and a brother in-law, Frank Skeens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. John Shelton will officiate.
Burial will be in the Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton, with the Grafton American Legion Post #648 conducting military graveside rites.
Memorials may be given to the Grafton American Legion.
