JERSEYVILLE - Hugh E. Million, 86, died at 4:40 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at JerseyvilleManor Nursing Home.
He was born in Murrayville, Illinois on November 22, 1932, the last surviving of eight children born to Clinton Uriah and Sadie (Riggs) Million.
Hugh graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1951, and served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was employed with Olin Corporation in East Alton retiring in December of 1996 as a carpenter after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Jerseyville American Legion Post #492, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A kind, soft spoken gentleman, Hugh lived his life for Christ. He was a active and very loyal member of the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville, where he served in any capacity necessary and with a gentle heart.
He married the former Joetta Mensing on December 1, 1973 at the First United Methodist Church inJerseyville, and together they have been blessed with 45 years of marriage.
Surviving are his wife, Joetta Million of Jerseyville; two daughters and sons in-law, Linda and Donald Walsh of Brighton, Janet and Gary Rosentreter of Jerseyville; a son and daughter in-law, Robert and Christie Million of Nashville, Tn.; a step son and his wife, Jerry and Pam Heyen of Columbia, Mo.; a daughter in-law, Laura Million of Glen Carbon; 11 Grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Hugh was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Edward Million on May 6, 1998 and Steven Scott Million on Sept. 5, 2006; three sisters, Esther White, Eloise Cain and NellieTendick; and three brothers, David Million, Joseph Million and James Million.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville.
Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post #492 conducting military graveside rites.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Koinonia Retreat inMurrayville, Il.
