GENEVA SEEHAUSEN
FIELDON - Geneva Elizabeth "Gen" Seehausen, 93, died at 9:35 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2018 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.
She was born in Meppen, Illinois on November 16, 1925, and was the last surviving of five children born to Obie and Mary (Bick) Seidler.
She married Stanley Clayton Seehausen, and together they raised their three sons in Fieldon, as he worked at Laclede Steel and Gen was a homemaker. After Stanley's tragic death on Feb. 23, 1971, Gen sought work outside the home, and began working at Calhoun Care Center in Hardin and Mundy Lumber Company in Jerseyville.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fieldon, and was a talented and resourceful woman, who carried herself with complete class and dignity regardless of her circumstances.
Surviving are her two sons and daughters in-law, Gerald "Jerry" and Rosemary Seehausen of Fieldon and Wayne and Bonnie Seehausen of Jerseyville; four granddaughters and their spouses, Kim and Joe Gerson of Hardin, Jody Jackson, Terah Pohlman and Rhonda and Randy Johnisee, all of Jerseyvile; and 12 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Obie Seidler; her mother, Mary Young; her husband, Stanley Seehausen; a son, Terry Lee Seehausen, and his wife, Sue; a daughter in-law, Mary Belle Seehausen; two grandsons, William "Billy" Seehausen and Christopher Seehausen and his wife Vicki; a granddaughter, Cynthia Hayes; one sister, Della Mae Presley; and three brothers, Victor Seidler, Virgil Seidler, and Ernest Seidler in infancy.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fieldon, with Father Martin Smith officiating.
She will be laid to rest in the Fieldon Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Altar Society or to Masses.
