BEATRICE EBKER
JERSEYVILLE - Beatrice Mae Ebker, 82, died at 7:41 a.m., Thurday, September 6, 2018 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Fieldon on August 10, 1936, one of eleven children born to George L. and Gertrude E. (Parker) Talley.
Bea graduated from Jersey Community High School, and attended Lewis & Clark Community College concentrating on law enforcement. She served as in the security detail for several establishments in downtown St. Louis, and worked for many years for the Jersey County Sheriff's Department. She eventually sought out calmer situations, and retired as a Unit Clerk for Jersey Community Hospital after many years of dedicated service.
She was given a very happy and rewarding life with her children and grandchildren, who provided her much love and assistance, but it wasn't a life without sadness. She first married Robert Scott, and together they were the parents of four children before his passing at the age of 29 on March 22, 1965. She then married Elwood "Woody" White, and together they had a son, and were married for 15 years, before his death on Oct. 5, 1981. On May 20, 1985 in Jerseyville, she married William Ebker, and they shared seven years before his death on Feb. 27, 1993.
Surviving are her five children and their spouses, Herman and Karri Scott of Jerseyville, Gary and Susan Scott of Jerseyville, Cheryl and Daniel Gaither of Tybee Island, Ga., Randy Scott, and his companion, Robin Frank of Jerseyville, and Elwood "Woody" and Lisa White of Hamburg; 17 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren, three Great-Great Grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Crumley of Alton.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George Talley and Charles Talley; and seven sisters, Vivian Akers, Marvell Brooks, Armeda Dunham, Wilma Griffin, Lola Mae Dunham, Deloris Stone and Ileane Moore.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday at the Charity Christian Center in Jerseyvillle.
She will be laid to rest in the Fieldon Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Stella Vintage Section of the Fieldon Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
