GENE CROTCHETT

KANE - Austin Eugene "Gene" Crotchett, 75, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 11, 2019 at his residence.

He was born on April 24, 1943 in Kane to the late Melvin and Eunice (Woolsey) Crotchett.

Gene was a United States Army Veteran, serving our country honorably in the Vietnam War.

He worked for many years as a self-employed mechanic and in his free time enjoyed hunting and fishing and would argue just about any issue with anyone willing to listen. Most notably, he was known for his giving personality.

Surviving are two children, Gina Rene Crotchett, formerly of Kane and Christopher Crotchett, and his fiance Katie Morrow of Kane; as well as a sister, Joan Youngblood of Jerseyville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Harriette in 2009; as well as a brother, Melvin P. "Pat" Crotchett.

Cremation rights have been accorded and no services are planned at this time.

Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of arrangements.
